Group Theory

These pages are all about the field of mathematics known as group theory . If you're not very well-versed in math, don't worry! There's valuable information to learn here if you're interested, and I'll try to elaborate on the little details where I can, and I'll link to external resources if there's too much to explain.

Group theory is all about studying symmetries: for example, all the ways you can rotate or flip a square so that it stays the same. You can rotate a square 90 degrees clockwise, or you can flip it vertically, and it'll still look the same.

A great textbook for group theory (and the one I'm using!) is Dana Ernst's An Inquiry-Based Approach to Abstract Algebra . It's a great book with many examples and hands-on problems and proofs, so if you want more detail, go ahead and check it out.

Let's get into it!

Note: These pages are still a work in progress, so I'm still actively adding pages. Make sure to check back for the next one! You can also use my site's RSS feed for updates.
